The programme supports European top-quality master's courses and enhances the visibility and attractiveness of European higher education in third countries. It also provides EU-funded scholarships for third-country nationals participating in these master's courses, as well as for EU-nationals studying at partner universities around the world.

Erasmus Mundus scholarships provide Grants for high quality graduate students from third countries to follow the Erasmus Mundus Masters Course (duration: 1-2 years). Besides, grants for high quality scholars from third countries to carry out teaching or research assignments for the Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses (duration: 3 months).

Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses: Integrated study programme, deliver jointly developed curriculum, joint admission and examination criteria. Students study in at least two institutions, offering the use of at least 2 EU languages (not necessary 2 languages of instruction). Award of a joint, a double or multiple degrees. 57 courses, wide variety of disciplines, have been selected (of which 35 already operational Master Course and 1 preparatory course), others as off academic year 2006/2007). 21 EU member states represented.

Awards: Cover the whole duration of the Masters Course in which the student has been enrolled. Student mobility: 1,050,000 baht (21,000€) per student for a one-year course (10 study months x 1,600€ plus a fixed amount of 5,000€ for travel expenses, tuition fees etc.) or 2,100,000 baht (42,000€) per student for a two year course. Scholar mobility: 650,000 baht (13,000€) per scholar (3 months x 4,000€ plus a fixed amount of 1,000€ for travel expenses) * Grants are made available to the grantees directly through the University Consortia.
Eligibility and Restrictions:
- Students having successfully accomplished their undergraduate (bachelor) studies are eligible for enrolment.

The University Consortium decides who receives an Erasmus Mundus scholarship on the basis of personal curriculum vitae (CV), study and academic merits, motivation, recommendations, language skills, etc.

Erasmus Mundus consortia and Commission (Delegations) publicise about scholarship programme and Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses world-wide.

Students and scholars must apply for these scholarships directly to the Erasmus Mundus Masters Consortium offering the particular course of interest.

The specific requirements and admission criteria may vary from university consortium to university consortium.

Consortia select students and scholars and propose a list of grantees to the Commission in Brussels.
