Course description

The BEcon programme trains students in economic theory, statistical tools, the application of theory to solve practical economic problems in trade, banking, and the labour market, and the evaluation of the regional economic performances of China, Hong Kong and other economies.

BEcon students are required to take a total of 180 credits of courses for the programme. In the first year, students will read two compulsory introductory courses in economics and elementary statistics and mathematics. Students with a different mathematical background are subject to different course requirements.

In the subsequent years, students should follow a total of 10 (minimum) to 16 (maximum) courses offered by the School of Economics and Finance, three of which are compulsory. This allows students a high degree of flexibility in planning their future career specialisation.
